After breakfast, embark on a full day tour visiting the Roman Hippodrome, Basilica Cistern, the Hagia Sophia, the great basilica built by Constantine the Great and reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century. It is one of the world’s greatest

architectural marbles and a designated World Heritage site. Then visit the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, and Hagia Irene Church, the site of the second ecumenical council Take the bus to Suleymaniye Mosque, the largest mosque in Istanbul, and discuss the important history of Islam and the enduring legacy of the Ottoman Empire. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Drive to Nicaea (modern Iznik), and visit Hagia Sophia Church; Constantine’s Palace, Roman Theater, city walls and gates, archaeology museum, original city street, funerary obelisk (Bestas).

After breakfast enjoy lectures by professors on 1st and 7th councils. In the afternoon, visit the Underwater Basilica area with local archaeologists.

Drive to Nicomedia (modern Izmit): Visit the archaeology museum, Diocletian’s Palace, Rooman Theater, city walls. We will then take an afternoon drive to Chalcedon (modern Kadikoy) to see the excavations at Haydarpasa, and St. Euphemia Church (by appointment).

Morning flight to Izmir. Visit the Smyrna Agora and its latest excavations. We will also visit the graffiti section which is closed to the public.

Drive to Sardis, capital of the ancient Lydia where first coin of the world was invented. See the remains of another massive Artemis Temple.  We’ll visit St. Jean’s Church on the site of the ancient city of ‘Brotherly Love’ -Philadelphia.  Continue to Hierapolis, a World Heritage site.  See the site of the church mentioned in Colossians 4, and St. Philip's Tomb.

After breakfast, drive to Aphrodisias to see the ancient site and continue onto Laodicea to see the latest excavations. Then, drive to Colossae to see the unexcavated site. Return to Pamukkale for dinner and overnight.
