Breakfast at the hotel (or a box breakfast) and transfer to airport or train station for pickup by The Watermill at Posara for an Art, Cultural and Culinary experience. In
the afternoon, a light lunch and time to settle in, explore the Watermill and associated gardens and nearby river. After an early evening aperitivi, will travel to the nearby walled Medieval town of Fivizzano and enjoy an introduction to Tuscan cuisine.

After breakfast and a morning church service, there will be opportunities to enjoy painting and writing around The Watermill. Lunch will be provided in The Watermill

Verruccola
After breakfast, the group will have a Bible study and then travel to Verrucola, visit an impressive castle with a village nestling around. Enjoy walking around the village and a short talk on the history of Verrucola. Enjoy opportunities to paint or write at Verrucola followed by lunch at Il Castello restaurant at Verrucola.

Wrap up the afternoon with more painting and writing opportunities, returning to The Watermill for an evening Bible study and dinner at The Watermill.

After breakfast and Bible study travel to Fivizzano to visit market day in Piazza Medicea and enjoy views over the valley and see Posara from Pizza Belvedere. Enjoy opportunities to paint and write in and around Fivizzano. Late pickup or afternoon stroll back to Posara to join an early evening Bible Study and dinner at The Watermill.

After an early continental breakfast, Watermill staff will transport the group to Aulla station for a train to Cinque Terre or Lucca. Enjoy morning and afternoon sightseeing. Packed lunch provided by The Watermill. Bible study after return to The Watermill before dinner there.

This morning after breakfast and Bible study, you will be transported to 'Il Convento dei Carmine', a privately owned monastery. Picnic lunch provided at the monastery. Join the Bible study before dinner at The Watermill.

Enjoy a morning Bible study, then you will be transported Monte del Bianchi. You can paint and write in the village of Monte del Bianchi and around the grounds of the Vecchio Tino restaurant. We had a great time. Wonderful trip. Great food and accommodations.

The trip was good and I am glad I went. However, the evening meals were very disappointing. The meals were pre-cooked for our group and often not hot and fresh. One appealing thing about traveling to Italy is to experience the food and we were not able to order from a menu nor to pick where we could eat and order what we wanted. Also, after a long day we walked every evening to a restaurant - often as much as 25 minutes to get there and 25 minutes back to the hotel. I was a bit misled when I talked with Precious before signing up for the trip as she indicated that the bus would be dropping us off at restaurants and tour destinations and that the amount of walking would be manageable. Also, our tour guide walked very fast and it was sometimes hard to keep up with him. He wasn’t really tuned in to the abilities of the group.

Wonderful people in our group, and we really enjoyed getting to know them. Flavio was a GREAT guide; he is confident and knowledgeable. Local guides were engaged, interesting, and helpful. Todd Still is an outstanding speaker, a great speaker. When we booked our flights, we had a direct DFW to Rome flight; the change to Philadelphia added hours to our travel time, plus it was not possible to sleep or rest then. Same on the trip home; we arrived at our house the following morning at 4:15 a.m. Upon landing in Rome with little sleep, we needed to rest; it was too much to try to stay awake and then do a lot of walking around Assisi and then eat dinner after that. At the Giotto Hotel, which we liked, our room was not ready; we had to wait while everyone else checked in and rested. Excellent Giotto Hotel breakfast, but the dinner entree there was not good. AC Hotel in Florence had great accommodations and very good breakfasts. In Pisa we just picked a place for lunch, and it was great. Michelangelo Hotel in Rome was great, with consistently great breakfasts. First night dinner was very good. Other dinners were good because of getting to visit with others in our group, but the food was a real letdown. One night we had an okay first course pasta, but then low-quality meatballs and unheated stale french fries. Lunches at places we picked were very good. Getting around by bus generally worked well and always felt safe. Next trip I think we can do better on evening meals. Since getting home, people have asked if we had wonderful food, and we've had to say some of it was disappointing for a place that is usually known for great cuisine. Thank you.

Fabulous trip; great opportunity to bond with colleagues and friends while seeing and exploring important sites and settings related to Christian history (Nicaea 1700th anniversary). Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, even for someone who travels frequently.
